Here at the Downtown WL Business Improvement Association (DWLBIA) we are working to improve business retention and recruitment, revitalize and beautify the downtown, and help to create opportunities for entrepreneurs to launch and grow businesses. We want everyone invested in the downtown to benefit from both their location and from their vibrant downtown neighborhood community.
Our dynamic Board is made up of downtown entrepreneurs, downtown commercial property owners, or their respective designated staff. Joining our Board is a fast immersion into all things “downtown.” If you want to make a difference in the downtown, and you’re interested in gaining governance and Director training and experience, consider joining our Board of Directors.
Our Board runs on a Policy/Governance model where day-to-day operations are run by the Executive Director and it is the job of the Board to ensure that the Executive Director is working towards the “ends”: Our strategic goals and fiscal responsibility.
New Directors are voted in each year at our AGM, held the first week of April. Board meetings are held monthly based on the schedules of the current Directors.
