Tracking your Website Visit

We want this website to be as useful to you as possible. To do this, we gather statistics about what pages you visit when browsing our site.  We do not collect any information we could use to identify you, such as your name, address, email address or phone number, unless voluntarily given to us as outlined above.  The information gathered assists us with anonymous site traffic analysis, which includes tracking the time/date of visits, pages viewed, and referring URLs.

We gather this information about your visit by placing a small file, called a “cookie”, into your web browser’s memory.  Most mainstream websites use cookies.

A cookie is a small text file stored on a user’s hard drive. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.

We may use cookies to serve our remarketing campaigns so that third-party vendors, including Google and Facebook, show our ads on sites across the Internet. You can opt out of the third parties’ use of cookies by visiting their advertising preferences settings.

You can control your privacy settings for Facebook Pixels from here:
https://www.facebook.com/ads/preferences/?entry_product=ad_settings_screen

You can control your privacy settings for Google Analytics from here:
https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated

Our cookies collect:

  • Your IP address (a series of numbers that are automatically assigned to your computer when you go online).
  • The type of web browser and operating system you use.
  • The date and time you visited the site.
  • Which pages you visited.
  • The order you visited the pages.
  • How long you spent on each page.
  • The page you entered the site on.
  • The last page you looked at before you left.

You can control and/or delete cookies as you wish – for details, see https://aboutcookies.org/.  You can delete all cookies that are already on your computer and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being placed. If you do this, however, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site and some services and functionalities may not work.

Using Social Media Sites

When you use certain aspects of our website or other services, or you post information to other social networking sites (e.g., posting a link to our Facebook or Twitter pages, or “liking” a product on your Facebook account), the personal information that you post or share in connection with these third-party sites is visible to other persons and can be read, collected, used and disclosed by other persons. Any information provided to such third-party social networking sites and other sites is outside of Downtown Williams Lake’s control and is not governed by this policy.
